Tara's Mt. Holly roots run deep. She went to Folwell, Holbein, and graduated from RV. She is a hard worker and she knows how to stretch a dollar. She started working at 12 years old, delivering the Burlington County Times. She transitioned to the Philadelphia Inquirer during high school. She learned how transformative volunteer organizations can be when the Mt. Holly Rotary Club sponsored her as an exchange student, sending her to Pisa, Italy. She went on to Rutgers University studying history and languages: Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese. Her son came into the world during her senior year of college. After graduation, she took classes at Rutgers Graduate School of Education at night, ran a state-licensed home day care during the day, and worked in a warehouse pulling orders on the weekends. She has worked in sales and marketing for over 15 years, the past seven self-employed, working with companies supporting organic farmers, fair trade practices, and worker cooperatives around the world and here in the USA. She is currently the only woman and the only LGBT person on council. Her goals are to bring in new business and revenue, get every grant dollar we can, prevent property tax increases, and keep a balanced budget. She wants to make it easier for residents to access information and understand what they are doing with their money. She will continuously work for Mt Holly to be safe, affordable, welcoming town for everyone, where businesses thrive, families want to raise their children, and where we all want to stay to live out our golden years.

Meet Kim Burkus, candidate for Town Council. She is a resident of Mt. Holly, RV graduate and has spent the last 15+ years volunteering in a variety of roles in town. She works in experiential marketing and is most happy spending time with her many nieces, grand nephew and her rabbit Biscuit. If you attend local events, networking meetings, clean-up days, etc. organized by Main Street Mount Holly, you have probably seen her there helping make them happen! She is a current board member of Main Street, a catechist at Sacred Heart and a member of the Mt. Holly Elks lodge. She supports the Mill Race Theatre and loves to kayak the Rancocas Water Trail around town. In her time volunteering for Main Street she has witnessed the passion and power of the volunteers in town. She believes that we can accelerate the revitalization of Mount Holly through strong partnership with these organizations and through frequent, clear, two-way communication between our local government, residents, landlords and business owners.
